Established in October 2012, Shanghai Technical Committee for Standardization of Traditional Chinese Medicine is responsible for the technical coordination and management of local TCM standards in Shanghai. Its scope covers the development and management of provincial standards in TCM healthcare, prevention, nursing, education, scientific research, and Chinese materia medica (CMM).

The third session of the Committee was formed in 2022, with Professor Shen Yuandong as Chairperson, Dr. Sang Zhen as Secretary-General, and Ms. Yu Zhihong as Deputy Secretary-General. Deputy Chairpersons and members are primarily experts from Shanghai's TCM administrative authorities, research institutes, universities, industry associations, quality and standardization institutes, TCM institutions, enterprises, and health service organizations.

As the technical coordinating body for local TCM standards in Shanghai, the Committee has published four local standards to date, providing strong support for the high-quality development of TCM in Shanghai.
